Charge level, plug, 12-volt battery
Electric vehicle storage
An EV needs no oil change or fuel stabilizer before storage. It needs the right charge level, a plan for the small 12-volt battery, and ideally a plug. Tell us the car and how long, and we look for space that fits.

What matters for an EV
Charge level
Most makers suggest storing at a middle charge, not full and not near empty. Check your manual for the exact range.
A plug, or not
Some makers suggest leaving the car plugged in with a charge limit set. Few storage spots have a plug, so ask in the request.
The 12-volt battery
It runs the computers and locks. If it dies, the car may not wake up. Ask about a tender for it.
Cold
Range drops in the cold and the battery may use energy to protect itself. Indoor storage limits that.
Weight
EVs are heavy. Set the tires to the right pressure, and check the floor or lift limits for stacked storage.

EV questions
Can I leave my EV unplugged all winter?
Usually, at a middle charge. The car loses a little charge each month. Read the EV long-term storage guide and your owner’s manual.
Do storage facilities allow EVs?
Most do. A few underground garages have rules about EVs or charging. We ask before we send an option.
